DS has Mono...
The poor kid.. his throat is so swollen and sore. He is refusing to eat anything, and getting him to drink is a struggle. We have been giving him motrin and tylenol but is there anything else you can suggest? We have tried a warm compress, he won't gargle... he is miserable.. he is 6 and this has been going on for 3 days.

Poor kid
My 9 yr old had mono back in January. He ran a fever for two weeks and then recovered pretty quickly after that. I'm surprised you caught it so soon. My kid has strept throat first, then two weeks later was sick again. It took 6 days of a fever before they even tested for mono.
I alternated Tylenol and Motrin and let him suck on popsicles all day long. I didn't worry about him eating, I just gave him whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted it. Push the fluids as much as you can, whatever you can get him to drink. Gatorade, soda, juice, whatever it takes.
