I noticed this morning that T has a splinter in her big toe. We tried to get it out this morning and this evening, and she won't stay still long enough for me to get anywhere close to digging it out. She's normally hard enough to cut her fingernails, since she flails and wants to hold the clippers, and that doesn't even hurt. Any brilliant ideas on how to get her to sit still long enough to dig it out? I remember getting them as a kid and how horrible it was to sit there while my dad tried to dig them out, so I don't blame her for not wanting to sit through it!
Re: How do you remove a splinter from a toddler?
DD had one and we sat her down and held her down while telling her what a brave girl she was being and I have to admit, we bribed her, we told her she'll get a treat afterwards.
if it needs to come out, we put a little toothpaste on it several times a day and cover it with a bandaid. the toothpaste helps to loosen the splinter and after a few days, it will easily slide right out.
