Stay at Home Moms

I have a question about LO and pools.

My DS loves water and we take him in our hot tub at home. Not set on a high temperature of course. But I took him to the public pool last year at 5 months and we didn't even last 1 minute in there. He is 14 months now. Do you guys think he will be able to appreciate it more now? I mean 1.25 isn't that much to spend but loading up and setting up and going with a friend of mine with a 2 year old, I don't want to inconvenience her. Thanks!

  • My LO and I did a baby swim class at 9 months and it was AWESOME! He loved it. We are taking a break from it this summer since my MIL has a pool and we will b over there every weekend practicing and playing all the games we did in class, but I'm sure next fall we will get him back in it (indoor pool). I think the pool is very fun for babies and toddlers!

  • the cold(er) water might have been a shock to him- esp if he is just used to the hot tub and baths.

Why don't you try setting a big basin of cooler water out outside before heading out to the pool with your friend and 2yr old. I bet he will be fine regardless though-

  • DS loved the pool at swim lessons this spring so we are going to try the pool with my friend and her kids this summer. If he is not a fan, then we will stick to home. I would give it another try if I were you.

I would try it again. My son loves the water, but has days when he doesn't want anything to do with big swimming pools. It is very hit or miss. I just continue to take him so he will get more comfortable.

And yes, temperature is going to have a lot to do with it.
