Twin moms-how many u/s?

Its seems liek you guys get so many and I'm really upset because I have my nt scan in a couple of weeks and then I guess I won't have one until the 18-20 week one?  I'm not happy about that.   And then after that, who knows?  I think I should be getting one at least once a moth with twisn, right?

Re: Twin moms-how many u/s?

  • I had one at every visit (every 2 weeks) from the time that we found out it was twins until delivery.  That was probably just because they had an u/s machine in the office and the doctors did it themselves (no separate visit to an u/s tech).

  • I have gotten one at every appointment.

  • Up until about 16 weeks I had recieved one every appointment but it was just quick and with a roll in machine.  I have had 2 level 2s so far and at my last appointment I was told I will get a level 2 from this point on every 4-6 weeks.  My last appointment was also when they took me from monthly to bi monthly appointments.

  • i only had one at my ob's office, at 7 w (when we found out it was triplets). my next u/s's were all at the MFMs office. starting at 16w, and every 3ish weeks after that.

  • I had my first u/s close to 20 weeks (when I found out it was twins, eek), and then at: 24; 28 and 32 weeks; and then from 32 weeks on, weekly ultrasounds. ?So in total, I had 10 u/s - which is kind of low for twin pregnancies, but I didn't find out until late. ?
  • I'm not a "mom" yet, but I will be getting one every appointment, which will be every 2 weeks.  (I think that singletons only go in once a month at first?)

My OB said that they want to be able to monitor each twin carefully, and the best way to do that is with frequent u/s.

  • Every 4 weeks from the time we found out it was twins (7 weeks)
  • I had one at 6 weeks and one at 8 weeks and I have another scheduled for 11 weeks. ?These have all been with the roll-in u/s machine. ?I haven't gone in for an 'official' u/s yet.
  • I had one at every Peri visit (monthly) and one at every OB visit (all.the.time).  So, like 10,000 :)
  • one every 4 weeks once we found out we were having twins.  i think they eventually start going to every 2 weeks, then every week, which i'm not thrilled about either :-(  i think it's to check cervical length and amniotic fluid levels.
  • I see a specialist and they give me one at every appointment (every 4 weeks).

  • I have had one at every appointment. Usually they are just really quick ones.

  • I see both my ob and peri every two weeks since finding out twins. Each one of them do ultrasounds with every visit. There is a machine in the office and my doctor does them since my girls are always moving and it is much easier to find the heartbeats. Also, my peri was very concerned for TTTS and has been watching me very closely for that.

  • I had my first u/s at 12 weeks (when we found out we were having twins) and since then I've had both external and internal (to measure cervical length and sometimes to check on the boys from a different angle, e.g. to determine who was A and who was B) at every visit--so far every 4 weeks. But when I've read stuff about twin pregnancies, it doesn't sound like the EVERY visit thing is universal (not with di/di twins, anyway); I've seen estimates as low as five ultrasounds throughout pregnancy.

(And at the practice I go to, there are six OBs and at least two different ultrasound rooms. A u/s tech does the u/s right before you go in to see the OB.)

  • I had one at 6w, 7w & 8w with my RE.  Then I had one at 10w that my OB ordered (my OB does not have the capability to do ultrasounds in their office) due to some concern about continued spotting.  I had the NT scan at 13w.  My next one is scheduled for 19.5 weeks.  Yesterday my OB said starting at 24w they will do an ultrasound every 4 weeks to check growth.  So, I think when all is said and done I may have a total of 10 before I deliver.
  • I've had one at every visit too...
  • We go to the doctor every 2 weeks and they do a scan every time we go.  Now, since we have had so many, they are doing the 3D ones as well...which is super awesome.
  • I had all my u/s at my MFM once a month.  My OB only used a doppler to check for heart beats.  He did send me a few times to L&D after my stress tests where I got u/s.  But scheduled ones were once a month.

  • Every other week. They were checking my cervix because I had a stitch in it.
