We're driving to FL and stopping about 1/2 way in between on the way there and on the way back.
I booked a hotel stay for the way there first - didn't even think about booking the return trip.
MrG asked me on May 5 if I had booked the return trip. I thought I had and for some reason when I went back to check my email to see if I had a confirmation for that night I did NOT see one. I sat down and booked a room right then.
I already had the second one booked.
Apparently they're both non refundable.
Mother effer.
Re: CRAP!!! I am SUCH an idiot.
I would call just to double check. I feel like most hotels are pretty good about refunds as long as you give enough notice.
It cannot hurt to try!
I guess Evan gets his own room
I would call the hotel and see if they will refund the extra room.

I'm going to try. If I can change the date I could book the trip to get our pics taken but I need to know when the photographer is free.
We booked through hotels.com - their customer service girl wasn't any help and idk if the hotel will work with us since we got reservations through the site.

LOL worse - 2 different hotels. Guess E and I can have DH drop us off at one and pick us up in the morning

::sideeye:: I thought I knew what state you were in but maybe I'm wrong.

Each hotel is different. I work in hotels and when things like this would happen, we would not charge the guest OR the 3rd party agency (hotels.com) if we had enough notice and we knew we could sell it.
I would get hotels.com on the phone and see if they could conference the hotel manager in. It doesn't hurt to try.
If you want to know the truth, the rates the hotels get from the 3rd party sites are typically meager. They'd rather sell rack (retail rate) straight to their guests and cut out the middle man.
GL!
I called the hotel and they couldn't change it because it was from hotels.com.
I'm on hold waiting for the hotels.com guy to verify if the hotel can make the change or not.
If (in the future) I find a deal on a 3rd party website do some hotels honor those prices if I go direct? Cause I'd LOVE to cut out the middle man! The last time we booked w/hotels.com the hotel didn't have our reservation when my husband called to verify.

If you find a rate on the 3rd party website and it is the same EXACT room type for the same set of dates, you can certainly ask the hotel to honor it. Just say exactly what you said just now.
"Would you honor the same rate as hotels.com? This way I have the confidence knowing what I booked, and you don't have to give them a cut." I know I did it all the time, and that was because I HATED doing billing for 3rd parties. LOL
