I had never seen this show before tonight, it's a family with a 6 year old and 2 year old quints. THe show's title implies that they didn't use fertility treatments. Does anyone know if that's true? If they really were "by surprise" that is insane! Well, even if they used fertility treatments, I'm sure they didn't expect to have quints!! Guess I'm just curious

At 40w6d, our Team Green surprise came by unplanned C-section and changed our lives forever!
Wow, I totally missed the part that they used a sperm donor!
Now that I know more about IUI and such, I am kind of curious why they went ahead with that cycle? They should have known prior to the IUI that she had a lot of folicles ready to go and that it put them at greater risk for a high number of multiples.
I know someone that just had that happen to them and they skipped the cycle because they didn't want to chance too many babies. I think she had somewhere between 6-8 follicles ready to go!
Not that I'm defending their choices... but when I was TTC with clomid & IUI, there were months that I had 4 follicles and no BFP. The first time we tried, I was scared that I had 2 follicles - but after a few failures - you kinda start thinking "the more follicles the better, at least this time I have better odds".
I haven't seen the show, but 5 kids all the same age - I couldn't imagine the stress. It would be SO much work!
