I have a job interview this afternoon!!

I wish I could explain just how many people in the area are in my profession. It's kinda ridiculous. I've heard that there are usually over 200 applicants for minimum wage jobs. These people have Master's degrees and PhDs. There is just sooooo much competition! But I got an interview! I'm so excited! I get to wear adult clothes for a few hours without anyone drooling on me!

& What field are you in? That's kinda the same for my BF's area- Graphic Design [in San Francisco]. Luckily he has a good job, though!

I'm working on my Master's of Library and Information Sciences with an Archives Certificate (try fitting that on an application, lol!) My school has 3 graduations a year and we have a HUGE program. Kansas City is filthy with librarians! I've been applying for any library or archives job (I used to work for NARA). The job I'm interviewing for is an academic librarian.. I'd be in charge of student workers and I'd do a lot of reference work and I LOVE reference work!!!

And I totally hear you about getting to wear adult clothes without someone drooling on you. I'm still lucky if I get that.

Awesome! And... I had no idea there'd be a place too saturated with librarians! I have a friend who is an archivist. She loves it, but kind of accidentally fell into the job and is only sticking with it through the summer until she can get back to what her passion really is. [Pattern designs, textiles.]
