Thought I'd add my intro up here since I missed the original post.
My 21 month old son is peanut, wheat, egg, dairy and banana allergic. He had severe eczema from 2 months until 10 months when we finally got an allergist referral from the dermatologist we had been seeing. I did several elimination diets while breastfeeding that didn't work- because I wasn't elminating enough foods. When my supply tanked at 10 monthswe switched to formula and he vomited within minutes of the milk based formula. We've done both the skin and blood tests and carry an epi pen with us all the time. We know he still has wheat issues due to a recent cross contamination issue at daycare. We're hoping that when we re-test in October we'll get to food challenge something...we still struggle to keep his skin clear but it seems to be non-food related now (grass issues, dust etc.)
Our younger son is 2 weeks old and we're anxiously watching for any signs of allergies.
I'm glad to see this board exists. Food allergies have totally changed the way our family thinks about/cooks/shops for food. It will be nice to have another resource and a group of people that understand how big of a deal this is for our kids.
