what do you think of...

Elsa?

Part of me loves it. Part of me keeps thinking of cows, which is not what I want my daughter to be associated with!

  • Elsie is a cow.  Elsa was a lion.  "(Google the movie/book Born Free).  It is NMS but it is a fine name.

  • Meh. Don't love it, don't hate it, but it does make me think of Dr. Elsa Schneider, the love interest/ secret-Nazi from the third Indiana Jones movie.

  • I know a little girl named Elsa.  It suits her, but I'm neutral on the name itself.

  • Love Elsa. I would assume European heritage as well though. Not sure where the cow thing comes from (and I grew up in cow country lol).

  • I like it a lot.  I just met a woman (early 30s) named Elsa for the first time and thought it was classy and classic, beautiful, and professional.
  • Now I'm thinking of cows because you mentioned it! lol. How about Elise? It's similar, but kinda takes cows off the table.

My name is Melissa, so I feel like Elise is just a little too close. I do like it as a name in general, though.

This exactly! It's not a "wow" name to me, but it's not bad at all.
