do you have/use these doorknob covers?

I've been at my parents' house the last 2 weeks and DD has figured out how to open doors.  Indifferent

We've got a handful of these doorknob covers but my mom finds them incredibly difficult to use (she claims she's "too old" to use them).  There are only a couple doors that actually need knob covers (um, hello back door) so I'm thinking of trying to find something a little more user friendly and I found these.  They look like they would be easier for my mom to use but I'm worried that DD will figure them out in no time.  Has anyone used them?  Any other magic recs for doorknob covers?

Re: do you have/use these doorknob covers?

  • We have the first ones and they are driving me CRAZY.  No one that comes over to our house can get out (including a police officer and a paramedic) and it takes me 3-4 tries each time before I can do it. I'd love to know if the second ones work well.  I think they'd be ok b/c it seems like you need an adult size hand/grip to use it. So while I could see my DD trying to use it, I honestly don't think her grip would be strong or big enough to be successful.

Wow! BabyMT is good!  DS doesn't know how to work them yet. Hell, I have a time with them myself.

THis is why I never throw away my own trash at your house. I have to wait until you open the pantry. (hangs head in shame).

  • We use the first ones that you have.  I don't understand how they are not user friendly.  You just have to hold the doorknob through the holes.

Anyway, we have no problems with the first ones.  DS hasn't figured out how to break them into the 2 parts yet.  I think he sees them and is automatically discouraged.

ETA:  I answered before I read other responses.  I wasn't being snarky to anyone who has trouble using them.  I just never did.  I had a harder time at the daycare that uses the ones with the grip (there's a pic of them from taytee I think).

we have these and they work just fine.  I don't have any issues opening them, but it takes just a split second longer to get a good grip.

We have these on all the doors leading to places we don't want Spence (or Coop, but he hasn't figured out knobs yet) going--outside, in closets where toys are kept.  He can't figure 'em out and neither can any of our friends without kids.  :)  Win-win.
