I am a very light-mileage runner, pre-pregnancy I ran a half-marathon (my first) in Sept and then got pregnant in January and reduced my mileage quite a bit. Due to a number of reasons (excuses) I have only been running 1-3 times a week, 3-4 miles each time since my BFP. A few of the times I have ran in the past few weeksI have had a lot of soreness in my pelvis and pain in my crotch (for lack of a better way of putting it) afterwards. Is this something that a a prenatal cradle or maternity belt might help with? I guess I figured I might need one of these if I was still running in my 3rd trimester but never this soon. Anybody experience this? Did you try a belt or a cradle? Did it help?
Re: Running Pregnant Mamas...
I used a maternity belt while running during my 2nd pg (ran till 4 days before I delivered) and am using the same belt with pg #3. I believe the belt helps for round ligament pain and any back/belly pain from running. I don't think it'll help with pubic bone/crotch pain. That said, my 2nd pg I felt fine running the whole way, but this time around it is more painful so I'm taking it much easier. Hope you find something that helps you.
Thanks for the replies ladies. I think to start out I am going to try running with my water belt fit snug around my hips/under my belly, I had been leaving it behind since I have only been doing short runs. I have an OB appt next week so I will mention it to my doctor and see if he has any ideas. I guess I'll just have to continue to take it easy and listen to my body.
I have this EXACT same issue. I"ve still kept up my mileage and managed to complete a marathon a few weeks ago and a HM this past weekend, but I notice a HUGE difference.
My doc has just attributed it to RLP. Since it's not accompanied by spotting or cramping and goes away within 24 hours, it's nothing to worry about. But I agree that it's completely annoying. The only solution I've found thus far is to go shorter distances more frequently. I'm trying to top out a 7 miles in any one run and just add in a few shorter runs during the week.
