Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Similac Soy

Anyone switch to this formula? I recently switched to Similac Sensitive and it seems to be working a little bit better. I've been researching the Soy and I'm tempted to switch again.

Anyone's LO have a milk alergy? I've researched it and my LO seems to have all the symptons but at our 2 month check-up the pedi says all the signs are "normal".

Re: Similac Soy

  • We actually switched from the Similac Sensitive to Enfamil Prosobee, which is soy.  We've never had our son tested for milk allergies, but we've definitely noticed a huge difference since switching to soy.  He's a much happier baby.  Even if your baby is not allergic to milk, he might still be sensitive to it.  I've read that a lot of babies can not "tolerate" dairy well until they've over 2 years of age.  In fact, our doctor said he would not recommend putting ANY baby on a formula that is not soy.  Babies aren't supposed to have dairy until they're over a year old, so why would they put it in formula?

  • We switched from Similac Advanced to Sensitive and finally ended up on Soy.  I also limit my dairy intake.  I'm not sure if he has an intolerance, but his gassiness has gotten better with the soy!

  • My little one was gagging in his sleep...sometimes 20 seconds at a time without breathing & sounded very congested during and after feeding.  He was not spitting up very much, but the pediatrician had us try enfamil prosobee before trying reflux meds.  Both symptoms have decreased dramatically.  We have since switched to Gerber/Goodstart though...the he had started spitting up the enfamil (the same thing happened w/ my oldest son and he done well with GS).  All seems to be right in his tummy now.

  • Thanks so much for all the advice. I think I'm going to give it a shot.
