DH was invited as a SAHD to sit on a panel at a UK twins association talk to new parents last night ( yay DH! ) - there was a women in the audience that has a 5 month old and is 12 weeks pregnant with triplets!!!!!!
She seemed really calm and was asking questions about quad strollers, etc. and people on the panel were trying to be really helpful - but there was an American woman on the panel that actually stood up, pointed at this poor woman and declared "so if you're ever having a bad day, just think about her and you'll feel better!"
Some people laughed, but most just looked uncomfortable. Cripes, if there were ever a venue that parents of multiples could feel comfortable, unjudged and not gawked and pointed at you would think it would be at a freaking multiples forum!
DH has a North American accent as well ( he was the only other non-European on the panel ) and was so embarrassed that people may have been assuming that they were a couple that he pointed me out in the audience during his next chance to talk! LOL.
It was just such a face palm moment!
I did feel badly for the woman pregnant with triplets though - she was talking to a few of us afterward and said that she was on the pill but it failed. Yikes!
Re: Oh holy helll!
Oh, and the super kicker? An Irish guy on the panel asked my DH if we were pregnant with another - no, I just haven't lost it all yet. Yes, it's been 9 months.
Cue tears from me once we got into the car afterward. I guess the silver lining is that I now only look like I'm pregnant with one. Yay me.How to tell my boys apart

My blog * We made the national news!
Where was that woman's filter?! Ugh!
Sorry about the pregnancy comment - I unfortunately get that a lot too and it is hard to respond that I just had twins when they are now over 2 yrs old
Did someone tell the woman to sit down and shut up? It wouldn't have been out of place to do that.
I'm sorry that some jerk made a comment about you. I would guess that it doesn't make you feel better, but I still look pg too. I just hit my pre-pg weight last week - a full year after the twins were born. I still have about 10 lbs to go to hit my pre-pg weight from DD.
My heart goes out to the triple mom, when I was still 12 weeks pregnant we were still in shock and in the "what are we going to do" phase.
Some people just have NO filter. I got this several times after my son was born. Nope - just fat, thanks for reminding me.
