I consider Scarlett one of the "nickname proof" names. The obvious shortening (Scar) is unappealing. You can push it and say "Lettie" but I don't think that sounds natural.
My son has a nickname proof name (Connor). We just call him Connor! Or pet names like "cutie pie" and "handsome" . I can't imagine calling him "Con" or "Conny" or something like that. His uncles have occasionally called him "con man" which I find funny (in moderation) but I don't think it will stick .

I don't like any nicknames for Scarlett. I think the best part of the name is that there's no obvious or natural nickname, so your daughter would actually be called by her name.

This. It is such a beautiful name on its own. It doesn't need a nickname.

Your husband sounds exactly like mine. He likes Scarlett, but he doesn't like that there are not any nicknames for it and he feels names should have good nicknames
I have heard of people using Carly/Carlie/Carli though as a nn for Scarlett. I just like the full name though.
We have a Scarlet and that was one of the things we love about the name, that there wasn't really a natural nn to it. Everyone just uses her name which I love. Her young cousins sometimes call her Scarly and my DH calls her Begonias after the song
Re: Nickname for Scarlett?
