I had the Sony Baby Call (audio only) which worked great. But DS is so noisy at night, I found myself getting up to check on him a lot in the middle of the night and he was always asleep. So I ordered the Summer video monitor (the slim version) and love it. When I hear DS I just look at the monitor to see if he is really awake and needs me, or if he is just making little noises while moving around still asleep. I didn't think the video was necessary, but now I'm glad I have it.

We have the Motorola one with video. I'm nak, or I'd post a link...but it's on Amazon for $159.99 if you search for it there. I also didn't think video was necessary, but we received this as a gift, and now I love it. The picture and audio are crystal-clear, and it has a lot of cool features, like a nightlight for LO and the ability to play music and control it from the parent unit.

Re: j/w if you can recommend
I went through a few before finding one with enough range. It's audio only, but I can go pretty far with it.
