Teeth question

So my DS is a little behind in the teeth department, he is 2 1/2 and doesn't have his 2 year molars yet.  Well he has been a bit cranky lately so I thought I would take a peek in his mouth to see if he is getting his teeth and hopefully tha is the source of our problems.  It looks like he is getting one of his upper molars in.  So here is my question I was looking at his gums and on the outside of his top ones where the potential tooth would come in has a small dark, grayish spot.  Has anyone seen something like this before on their LO's gums?  Do you think it is something I should be concerned about?
