I'm a first time mom, so, anything i notice on my baby freaks me out. i'm contantly callin his doctor and asking question. that's why i love that i can just post on here and get advice from you girls
it's been over a wk and my baby can't seem to get any better. I know it's not a cold. I just hate seeing him all stuffed up. Doct. gave me some medicine for the congestion and some bby nose drops. all this is not helping. Is this common in babies. I know he is not sick, bc it's jst the stuff nose, does he jst have very bad sinuses?
Re: my baby's stuffy nose
Don't worry! I freak out too everytime that I see sometime slightly odd with DD.
Check the color of the secretion. If it is clear, it may be allergies. If it's yellowish or greenish it may be an infection and require antibiotics.
it varies. sometimes it's yellowish.,other times it's clear. i clean his nose and all,but the stuffiness wont go away. im guessing allergies. if that is the case.. do i even bother giving him the congestion medication?
We are battling the same thing, and I agree I think it is alergies. What is working for us is the Little Noses drops (I try to do them at least twice a day, morning and night but do not get me wrong sometimes I forget, miss, etc.) and then I started the humidifier back up, which seems to help as well. Ours has the ability to put the vicks vapor rub (not sure if they all can do that or not). With the combination of all those things it seems to be doing better! I like the congestion medication and it seems to help as well, but I only gave it when we had yellow stuff. His nose drainage it clear now or not at all.
The other thing I do is pat his back with a cupped hand (harder than a normal pat) to break up all the gunk in there.
Do you have a Nose Frida snot sucker? If not, I highly recommend it!
Yes, this, It's so much better than the bulbs!
DD was stopped up and had a cough for a good two or three months straight. Our pedi just said it was a combination of 'daycareitis' and allergies (we also noticed she tended to start coughing around the same time my husband does, so they have an allergy in common.) Maybe I'm low key, but I decided that as long as she was happy and cheerful, had no fever and it wasn't affecting her eating I'd just roll with it.
i agree - get a humidifier. Some will say not to do this, so you may want to ask your pedi, but we put vicks on C's feet. Put footie PJs on so that it doesn't end up in his mouth.
We did the Little Noses saline drops. Our pedi also suggested some Triaminic nasal spray, but I couldn't ever find it.
i said the same thing. it didnt seem to bother him at all, but i could hear him struggling to breathe.. my poor baby..
