Cinco de Mayo

Remember when you could actually take part on el Cinco de Mayo even if it were on a week night?  Maybe I'll have a corona while refereeing bath time tonight to celebrate.

Here is a funny, related story.  DH's friend is staying in our basement right now and this guy is not the brightest.  He says to me earlier this week "it seems like Cinco de Mayo" was a couple months ago.

I say "that's funny because it is pretty obvious when el Cinco de Mayo is"

He gives me a blank stare.

I say "you DO know what el Cinco de Mayo means, don't you?"

Blank stare.

DH from the other room "Cinco is 5 and Mayo is May dumba$$!"

Apparently his Spanish isn't so good.

haha! Don't you learn that by the time you graduate elementary school?

We used to have so much fun on Cinco de Mayo... we lived right by Greenlake and had a Mexican Restaurant right out our back door. They'd close part of the street off and have a huge party. This year I will be making taco salad for dinner and DH will probably drink a beer. Maybe if we're really in the celebrating mood, we'll go out to dinner. Woohoo!

Nice!  We're doing the parents version of Cinco de Mayo:  having another couple with kids over for Fish Tacos and virgin margaritas...PARTY TIME

I don't think I've ever actually celebrated Cinco de Mayo...until now of course, with my Cinco de Mayo baby! Our celebration will be pretty lame though; we're both sick and DH is out of town.

We had a fun hot lunch at school (crazy chaos with make-your-own-taco bar and a mom making virgin margaritas with her blender AND floating umbrellas in the drinks, but fun).  Then tonight I made fajitas for dinner, but had no drink because the friends we had over don't drink and I always feel weird around them when I do.
