1st Trimester

persistent spotting-anyone else?

I have been spotting (light brown, small amounts) for several weeks.  My doctor said it could be the progestrone, something else, or nothing at all.  We've done a few ultrasounds and the baby still looks great, heartrate good, my levels good, etc.--I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and have another u/s--fingers crossed everything is still okay!

Just wondering--if anyone else is in this boat, what did your dr. advise?  I've been told not to lift things (impossible as I have a clingy 14 month old), to take it easy (also impossible, as on top of having a 14 month old, I have a full time job), not to exercise (not even brisk walks), and I also can't have intercourse.  Is anyone else going through this?

Re: persistent spotting-anyone else?

  • I had some on and off spotting during the 1st tri and my doctor's never seemed that worried about it.  They said it could have been implantation spotting (which I thought was only once, very early, but apparently it can be when the placenta is attaching to the uterine wall too) or just cervical irritation.  But either way, they told me that unless the blood is bright red or I had cramping too that I shouldn't worry about it.

  • I'm not as far along as you but I'm having spotting too. It seems to be in the morning and it's brownish kind of like when your period starts or ends. Then it dissipates during the day and comes back again later. I'm going to the doctor on Thursday for an u/s and we'll see what happens then. ::fingers crossed::
