Honestly, the more I think about it, I blame Oprah for the current views that most people have related to public schools (including supporting property tax levies in OH), teachers, initiatives like SB5, etc.

I have yet to watch Waiting for Superman because I am certain I won't be able to sleep. 

I am still annoyed with our community.  That levy went down in flames.  And DS is most likely heading to a preschool in the district next year.  I don't know how this levy would impact that as much of it is federally funded.

I haven't really heard what (if any) effect it will have on the district preschool. In general, Kasich's biennial budget slashes child care provider reimbursements, from the state, by 7%.

Yes, but where I get mucked up is the part where his preschool falls under IDEA/ADA.  Regardless of the outcome, he'll continue where he is currently 2 days/week at a minimum and he's will have to receive speech services from somewhere (if that makes any sense)

Because the preschool program is a special education program it is federally mandated (although not fully federally funded). They cannot cut it as it falls on the continuum of services the LEA is required to provide. Now if funding continues to get cut you will see districts getting more creative in their service delivery and might see even more consolidation of special education services across districts which is what many rural communities are forced to do. This is purely speculation on my part but it's the solution often employed by other small districts that are strapped for cash.

I don't hate the player (in fact, I admire the Op), I hate the game (media spin). In general, I have to roll my eyes at ANYONE who takes their world view from mostly one source (Oprah or otherwise). It seems to be the case with TOO many people, anymore, though.

I'm embarrassed that I have no idea what you are talking about.  What is the program about?  Do you really think her influence is that far-reaching?  I personally am not a fan, but I don't hate her either.  I know a lot of people watch, but to the degree that they adopt her attitudes and opinions?
