Learning Tree or All About Kids?

Anyone familiar or know anything about Learning Tree Academy or All About Kids? They're both located in West Chester. I looked them both up on the OJDFS website, but didn't get a lot of info there. Hearing personal experiences, and word of mouth, for some reason, makes me feel better. Our search is narrowing, so I promise there won't be a lot more daycare questions from me Smile

Re: Learning Tree or All About Kids?

  • I haven't heard anything about Learning Tree but there is an All About Kids near the center I work [not in West Chester].  Obviously I am 100% biased as my child is at a center with me BUT we have had parents tour who have/had their kids enrolled at All About Kids [not in West Chester]. Some of the things we have heard...high turnover, young teachers (can be good or bad), too many transitions (ie the kids get moved to a new room/new teacher every few months rather than staying in one place for awhile).

Most of the parents who have enrolled their children at the center I work for say they enrolled here because they just got a good feeling and it ended up being a good match. So if you don't dig up anything horrifying on the ODJFS site and you visit and get a good feeling then your intuition is probably worth listening to.  Visit more than once and ask if you can come in and observe a classroom in action with your child.  Good luck!

edited to add: with a franchise, like All About Kids for example, you really have to check out each individual center.  I was just sharing what I had heard about one particular location.

  • DD used to to go part-time to AAK years ago when she was an infant.  We are in NKY, but I have nothing but good things to say about that center.  The facility was wonderful, the assistant may have been young but the lead teachers were all elementary school teachers who were working there for the summer and the class DD was in was a 6-12 month class, so as an infant they transition to their new room every 6 months and then when they are older it's 2's, 3's, pre-k, etc. so they are in those rooms for a year.  I don't think that is unreasonable at all, I think it's appropriate so they aren't over ratio and so that they are with kids at their same developmental stage.  Obviously this was a different center, but I felt good about it for DD at the infant stage.
