Don't let me do it

Part of me wants to see how much my body has changed from this whole thing by trying on my pre-pregnancy jeans. I feel like all I've gained I boob and belly, and there's a chance they'll fit and just not close. Anybody else try this? This would be a bad idea right? Ignorance is bliss kind of thing?

mostly because I enjoy torturing myself... No, it's just a curiosity thing. But curiosity killed the cat, and I think if I give in my self-esteem would be next on it's hit list.

  • I know, from trying to put on maternity pants lent to me at the beginning (that fit), that my pelvis has already started to get bigger. I wouldn't do it if I were you!

  • I tried this with my shorts & capris when I was trying to decide what summer clothes I could use and what I shouldn't even bother with.

    It did not end well.

  • Mine still fit! Actually they are looser in the legs and butt because I am "thinner" now except for belly and boobs. To be fair, they are low cut and button below the bump though.

  • Jeans? No way. I wouldn't even try. I have mat jeans from the early days that aren't even comfortable anymore - now that's a self-esteem killer.

But, I do have a pair of khaki pants that were ever so slightly loose before pregnancy. I can still wear them (unzipped and unbuttoned, with a belly band).

  • DO NOT DO IT.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Don't do it sweetie! I warn you from experience, I tried mine on and ended up throwing all my expensive jeans into a plastic bag for a co worker to come get. She literally called it Christmas.... and 6 months after having my DD i probably could have fit into them again. But hey! I was hormonal and so freaked out that I couldn't even get them over my hips that they HAD to go. Don't do it! Instead go shopping for some new maternity pieces you'll enjoy for a little while longer. It's way better than trying on your pre-preg jeans and will save you a bunch in heartache.

Considering a pair or two of the maternity pants I bought in first tri don't fit me now, I'd say dont do it!

You made me feel better that I'm not alone. I have a pair of really nice (and not cheap) Pea in the Pod jeans that I bought around 16 weeks. They still fit, but they are uncomfortable and I take them off the second I can, and I hate sitting in them for any period of time. I honestly thought they'd be the only jeans I'd need for this pregnancy ... I was wrong :(

  • I put all of my pre-pregnancy jeans in storage in the attic.  Out of sight, out of mind.  I am perfectly comfortable easing back into them post-partum.  I do not need to do that to my self-esteem.

  • I've stepped away from the closet. I did pick them up though, and it might be possible, but I'll try to hold off until a month or three post baby.

  • I had a pair of work slacks that used to be really big on me so I thought I'd "slip" them on yesterday for work...BAD IDEA!  Back away from the closet and stay away from the jeans for now...trust me!
  • I picked up one pair this morning (thinking they were a different pair) and when I realized what they were, I dropped them like they were on fire. They were getting tight before I got pregnant.

I have a pair of super low rise Charlotte Russe's that were pretty loose in the waist when I got pregnant. I still wear them, usually with a belly band. They actually work pretty well, thought they sit much lower than they use to.

  • I still wear a pair of pre preg shorts and jeans, just tuck in the button parts and wear a long tank top over them.. it's possible that they may still fit. I've gained 5 lbs but that's cause I was chubby before.

  • Don't do it.  I had a pair of low-rise, loose-fitting jeans that I was sure I could wear at least until third tri.  I didn't wear them for a few weeks and then tried them on around 22 weeks...yeah, it was a bad scene.  All my pre-pg clothes are in a different room of the house where I can't see them, because they just depress me right now.

Mine fit also. I only wear maternity jeans on Tuesdays because I have to sit for a long time and my regular jeans are getting tighter. The same thing with my previous pregnancy and I actually wore my regular jeans home from the hospital. I was kind of showing off but they werent comfortable at all. I'll wear sweats or pajamas home this time!

Same here, all my jeans are packed away in a rubbermaid container and far far away from my bedroom. It's just better that way.

  • DON'T DO IT!  I did it a few days ago and spent the rest of the day depressed.  I have only gained 13 pounds so far and thought they would slide right up and button below the belly, but apparently my hips have started to widen.  Huge bummer!!

  • I JUST did this yesterday, since my maternity jeans seem to still be baggy and they still fit.  The only reason I actually tried it on though is because I kind of had an idea they would still fit.  I wouldn't have been disappointed if they hadn't though, so I say go for it as long as it won't get you down,  if they don't fit.

I still have some pre-pregnancy pants that still fit so I'd also say go for it. But definitely be prepared to get upset if it doesn't fit. I gained 21 pounds but its all belly and boobs (just like what you said) so I just put my pants underneath belly and its fine. Good luck!

28 weeks tomorrow & Im still not wearing maternity clothes. Im holding out for as long as possible, I may need to give into the shirts soon though because my bellys getting big & shirts are starting to get short. Jeans though Im still wearing with no problem & no end to wearing them in sight.

  • With DS I was able to wear regular jeans til the end.

This time...not so much.  I haven't been able to fit into regular jeans for months.
