D.C. Area Babies

First day at work is over!

I have never been so happy to see someone in my life :-) And he was so sweet when I got home - just cooing away. He hung out in the kitchen and played with his new taggie ball as I unpacked my pump parts and packed tomorrow's lunch.

I am a little worried, though - DH said he only ate 6 oz while I was gone and then he didn't really seem *that* hungry when I offered my boob when I got home. He's nursing now, but it's pretty lazy. Although I need to double check with DH - he said he only ate 6 oz, but the bottle count doesn't add up.

I hope he doesn't decide to reverse cycle and stay up all night nursing - that would not be cool.

All in all it was a good day - I missed him, but it was nice to feel productive and engaged. I am a little rusty, but it will come back to me.

  • OK - he ate more like 9 oz - DH forgot to count one of the bottles. I was gone for just about 9.5 hours and he nursed a bit right before I left and when I got home, and is nursing now.

Of course this means I'll be obsessing over his weight again.

  • DD never ate more than 4.5-5oz a day the whole time I nursed her (14mo). She made up for it by waking up to nurse every 3 hrs until we Ferberized at 9.5mo.

My pedi said "the baby sucks out all the nutrients she needs," so don't obsess about how much he's taking in. He will not let himself go hungry!

Both of my kids did start waking up more to make up for not seeing me during the day but not all babies do that.
