Secondary IF

Waiting to test

Today is CD11, so I could test, but I'm not.  Partially, I'm really scared of another BFN, probably more so this cycle because we had more of a chance this cycle than others.  I went to the store specifically to buy HPTs, had 2 in hand, then one, then none.

On top of my perpetual fear, DH is working on a huge project this week.  He is beyond stressed.  I know he'd be upset if I test w/o him, but at the same time, either outcome (BFP or BFN) would only add to his stress right now.  (You know, he'd think about the financial aspect of more treatment or a c-section, plus how to care for me emotionally in either case)  I usually do test w/o him, in all the months where I'm pretty sure it's negative (as we discussed before, ignorance is bliss for many men re: IF).  But this month, since there was more of a chance, I hesitate to test w/o him.  I'm kind of wishing I could skip the HPT and just go straight to the betas.

If I wait, I'm looking at testing on Good Friday (not sure about that) or waiting until Monday, which is our anniversary (not sure about that either).  I could do Saturday, but if it's a BFN, will my mood destroy Easter plans?  I just don't know what to do - I'd test anytime I could be sure of a good outcome!  LOL  I know I'm totally whining...

  • I think I would try to hold off to test for a couple more days.  At 11 DPO if it was to show up BFN you could still have a chance and you'd be stressing and second guessing until you were supposed to test.  I know it sucks to wait but the way I look at it is if it is BFN then why be disappointed twice?  I hope that waiting a couple more days is worth the wait and you'll see a BFP!  Good luck!!!

I feel silly for having posted this.  I don't want to stress out DH, but I'm stressed too.  I'm just anxious about the answer that is headed our way soon.  Sigh.  Thanks ladies.  Gotta keep my chin up!

  • I love this post, JMay! You sound just like me!  I think I've said just about all of that before to myself and I have definitely gone to buy HPTs and then walked out of the store without them.  Ignorance is bliss...or at least more so than a BFN!

    Ain't it the truth!!!  =-D

I actually drove to the store again, trying to convince myself it would be ok to just buy "one teensy little test".  It would be a BFN, so it would be ok - it wouldn't count.  Just before I got out of the car, I saw a woman I know from church pull in across the aisle - we teach Sunday School together so she would have known something was up.  SO - message received!!!  I just laughed to myself and drove home.  Ha!

Well, now Jenna, you have me confused, Married Sunday School teachers are allowed to have sex and make babies, right? Or is your "DH" actually the pastor? Wink Heehee.

I understand. I finally bought a bunch on Amazon for cheaper than at the pharmacy (in addition to the ICs, I got some FRERs and CBE digitals).  So now I'm set and just have to get past my own cheapness to use one of the tests I've stockpiled Stick out tongue

  • Well, on a less in the gutter note, I so know where you are coming from!

If you test at 13dpo, you've got a good shot of accuracy, and that would be Thursday, right?  So not Good Friday, time to process before Easter, and you can go a little less crazy.

Also, is your chart online for the chart stalkers among us?

I so hope this is the one for you!  (well, for both of us!)
