Baby Names

Rate My Names

Here are the top name choices for our babies.  I'd love to know your thoughts (rate them in order of preference, if you don't mind)!

Boys

Hudson James
Charles Grayson (We'd call him Grayson)
Roman Matthew

Girls

Sophia Irene
Ivy Grace (not positive on the middle name. Welcome your suggestions.)
Vivian Adele

I am sure it is obvious, but if we had more than one boy, and we chose either Hudson or Grayson for one of them, we would not chose Hudson or Grayson for the other.  Same with Ivy and Vivian.  They are too alike to have both names in the same family.

Re: Rate My Names

  • from personal experience with your charles call him grayson, name him grayson charles or in school he will be charles. I went through this is school ( I know when the person knew me by what they called me; in HS I got tired of fighting it and used my first name) and my brother now goes by his first name. He is Patrick Blake, (Dad didn't want him called patty) (mom thought  blake patrick doesnt really flow) so we all call him Blake, the rest of the world calls him Patrick.

I like you boy names Hudson is NMS but I don't hate it.

I don't like Sophia, but your other two girl names are beautiful :)

  • Out of your boys names I like Charles. And I would call him Charles, no need to confuse everyone calling someone by his middle name. Actually out of all your names, I like the middle names far better then the firsts (aside from the trendy Grayson)

For girls I like them all but prefer Vivian Adele.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • I like Charles the best out of all the boy names, but since you're not going to call him that, then I don't know which one I'd pick.  For the girls, I like Ivy Grace and Vivian Adele, but my favorite name is Irene.

Here are the top name choices for our babies.  I'd love to know your thoughts (rate them in order of preference, if you don't mind)!

    (2) Hudson James - I don't really like Hudson, but it's better than Grayson
    (3) Charles Grayson (We'd call him Grayson) - I like Charles, but I can't stand Grayson
    (1) Roman Matthew

    Girls

    (3) Sophia Irene
    (2) Ivy Grace (not positive on the middle name. Welcome your suggestions.)
    (1) Vivian Adele

    I numbered them above. :)

  • I like Charles but not Grayson.  I think if you want to call LO a certain name, then it shouldn't be a middle name.

    In order:  Charles, Roman, Hudson

My fave of your girl names is Vivian (that was my 1st choice if we'd been team pink).  I think it's pretty but strong. I also like Adele.

    In order: Vivian, Ivy, Sophia

  • In order::: number 1 being my favorite.

    1. Roman Matthew

    2. Hudson James

    3. Charles Grayson (We'd call him Grayson)

    1. Vivian Adele

    2 .Ivy Grace

    3. Sophia Irene

  • 1. Roman Matthew

    2. Charles Grayson (although would be #1 if you called him Charles or Charlie!!)

    3. Hudson James.  Personally I can't stand Hudson, it sounds so contrived.

    1. Ivy Grace- love!

    2. Vivian Adele

    3. Sophia Irene- I like Sophia but its way too popular/overused!

  • Thanks for your feedback!  As far as Charles Grayson, it just flows better with our last name that way.  My dad goes by his middle name and never had any problems.  All 3 of my sister's kids have gone by a nickname (having nothing to do with their first or middle names) since they were born, and they don't have any trouble with it, including in school.

    But I appreciate your input!

  • My favorites are Roman Matthew and Sophia Irene. Least favorite is Ivy Grace.

My little brother (as well as my stepdad) have both gone by their middle names their whole lives, and haven't had any issues with it.

As for the names, in order from favorite to least favorite:

    Boys 1.)Hudson James2.) Roman Matthew
3.) Charles Grayson  Girls1.) Vivian Adele2.) Sophia Irene3.) Ivy Grace

  • I love Hudson, Grayson, and Roman, but with Hudson I think of the Hudson river. I agree with a previous poster who said that if you plan on calling the baby by his middle name to just go ahead and make it his first name to make life just a bit easier. I like Roman but I don't think Roman Matthew really flows. I also think of a class I took on the fall of Roman civilization...I think Grayson is my fave. Grayson would have been one of my top choices if it wasn't for the fact that my mom knew a Grey in high school that was a jerk, and we didn't want to give our baby a similar sounding name.

I think Sophia is awesome. Its one of our top choices for a middle name if we have a girl. Only thing is that its in the top 10 right now. If that doesn't bother you then I would go for that one. I like Ivy but I don't like Ivy Grace. Ivy Adele sounds prettier IMO. I think Vivian is a gorgeous name. Its something that she could grow with. I think Vivvie for a little girl would be a cute nickname, and then when she got older she might prefer the full name, or even Viv for short. I think it sounds super cute.

  • 1- Roman Matthew (I think it is a strong name)

    2- Hudson James (sounds good)

    3-Charles Greyson

1- Ivy (hope you find a good MN, is there anyone in your ancestors?)

2- Sophia Irene (hope your last initial doesn't spell sin)

    3- Vivian Adele (NMS)

Ivy Alicia, Ivy Victoria (I like her initials would be IV), Ivy Annabella.
