DS is "holding" his bottle pretty well. Although he hasn't mastered actually feeding himself with it yet. He more plays with it and ends up wearing more than he gets in his mouth. haha

Samantha was about 5 1/2 months when she started holding her bottle, she still rather lay flat then sit and drink a bottle she hasnt figured out you have to tip the bottle to get it to come out which is why she hates the sippy cups.
DS was holding his bottle at 4.5 months. I basically just started handing it to him and after about two or three days he held it by himself. It took to about 5.5 months for him to realize that he needed to tip it to get the rest out!
Within the last few weeks DS has figured out how to tip the bottle when holding it. He does it with his hand(s) cupping the bottom edge of the bottle (i don't think i'm describing that right?) I thought he would never figure out how to hold his bottle because we have the TommeeTippee bottles & they are odd shaped.
ETA: Most of the time he's holding it while I'm holding him. He also likes to play around with it too much so I have to take over feeding him Only a couple times I've had to give him his bottle when he was in his carseat while I was driving, but even then it ended up being thrown down on the seat
My mom got him to start holding the bottle when she came to visit a few weeks ago (just after 6 months). I haven't really forced it, but he's been more interested in it lately.
He still doesn't consistently tip it up, and he frequently likes to pull it out, play with the nipple, put it in, pull it out, play with it, etc. And he won't usually hold it the whole time. After a few minutes of playing, one of us inevitably gets tired of the game and I take over.
I don't really understand why people are so interested in having LO hold the bottle. I love giving him his bottle. It's our cuddle time.
