Hiking backpacks

How old can you start using the framed hiking carriers. DH wants one, but I told him to hold off because I imagine she'll need to be 9-12 months to use it. But the one he was looking at is $100 bucks off on Zuiliy - the Kelty Trail Carrier - I was thinking of getting it for him as a Father's day gift since it's $100 buck off, but is it lame to have it sitting around for up to a year.

Re: Hiking backpacks

  • We probably didn't start using it until 8 months but I think you can use it once they have good head control.  I wouldn't buy one used though.  There are always quite a few on Craigslist and most people don't use them too often (including us).  We got ours in great shape for $40.

  • I second CL, and actually I got one for my sister that I don't think they ever use--Kelty--because they use the Ergo so much. She swears by it in terms of a hiking back pack, and they do a ton.
