Trevor is turning 6 on Thursday and has requested a big brownie for his birthday without icing... It's his day, so I am going to do several pans of brownies instead of cake.
Would you be disappointed that a party did not include cake? My boys are so strange in this department. They do not eat cake, ice cream, and many other treats. Boo!!
I'm thinking of having the supplies for brownie sundaes available. Besides ice cream and hot fudge, what other toppings would you include?
Re: Birthday brownie?
So the traditional cake will not be missed?
That'd be awesome! As long as you have all those toppings, i'm sure no one would miss a cake. I'd get a bunch of toppings and let the kids decide. A few flavors of ice cream, whip cream, cherries, m&ms, crushed up pb cups, crushed oreos, gummy bears, whatever you see at ice cream places.
And, kids can skip the brownie and just eat ice cream sundaes if they want. And you could probably make a few different flavors of brownie too (regular, blondie, pb brownies, etc).
My most favorite dessert is a fudgy browine with vanilla bean ice cream and homemade caramel sauce. So, I would be in heaven. In fact, if I had anyone to make me something for my birthday that would be it!
You definitely need homemade caramel and hot fudge. I think that's it. Maybe some sprinkles to make it festive!
I love the caramel sauce at the beginning of this recipe: https://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/01/ice-cream-pie-with-easy-caramel-sauce/
And this hot fudge is what I make because it is super easy:

Both can be made ahead of time. I put mine in a mason jar and then reheat them in the microwave for serving.
Those recipes look delicious! Trevor will only want a plain brownie. The toppings will be mostly for the adults. We also plan on serving pizza and snacks.... This could get out of hand.
