We started Will on rice cereal last Wednesday. I wanted to start him on oatmeal but his Pedi said he's more likely to react to that grain than rice. He didn't test positive to an allergy to wheat (or soy or corn for that matter). I don't think they tested for a rice allergy (but I'm calling later this morning). He only tested postive for peanuts and then has a milk protein intolerance and thus is on Alimentum formula.
Sunday he started have a bit of a rash on his torso. It totally flared up yesterday as did his ezcema spots. He pooped all day long, poor buddy, and the diaper rash that was starting to go away is now out of control again.
I've also been giving him gripe water (which I've given him since he was born and he's never had a reaction to) and mylicon and tylenol a time or two in the last week. The mylicon because he was just extra gassy and the tylenol because I think he's working on some teeth and was seeming really miserable.
I'm calling the doctor as soon as she's in...but does this seem like a reaction to the rice cereal?!?! Did any of your LOs react to rice cereal? I did notice on the label that is has a bit of soy oil in it.
My poor little guy, I just hate to think that figuring out what to feed him is going to be tough his entire little life.
Re: Rice Cereal Reaction?!?!
Has he been tested for soy? My friend's son has a soy allergy and it shows up as rash/excema.
So sorry!
Ugh! That sucks, mama. It does sound like he has an allergy to rice. I may be totally wrong, but didn't Ashley's Gage have an allergic reaction to rice too? I am so sorry that you are dealing with this!

Jake is on Alimentum due to sensitivites and had reactions to oatmeal so we switched to rice. What brand did you use? Certain brands still have traces of dairy/soy..
According to the Reflux Rebels website:
Best to worst brands: Healthy Times, Earth?s Best, Beechnut, Gerber
