I decided to call my aunt today (I live out of state and she lives in Michigan), she said she saw a picture of me from a week or so ago and said "you look like a butterball". I said, "like my belly?" lol (I think I was in shock or trying to process what she was saying to me). I told her I guess I have gained some weight all over and she said, "I guess so!" What a way to make a pregnant girl feel good about herself! I proceeded to cry for the next 20 minutes and called my mom to complain. She said, "well all pregnant girls get fat in their butt and hips". She too felt the need to point out a problem spot! UGH!!
Re: Someone called me a "butterball" today- VENT
Oy!
I just don't think people understand what they are actually saying. I've noticed that some people make a point of saying something like that, thinking you would want to hear how you are changing, getting bigger and "fatter" all around.
I'm sure you look beautiful!
I sometimes hear the oposite and that 's no fun either. I have been told a few times that I"m not feeding my child enough b/c I'm not gaining any weight. Which I am gaining weight, but in their opinion not enough....
Try not to let it bother you too much....
wow. that was insensitive.
sorry you had to hear it, and I can see how that plus hormones would easily equal a good cry. hugs!
I'm sure you look amazing.
THIS! MH was saying he can tell if someone is pregnant by their face and I asked him if I looked pregnant in my face and he said yes. I got mad and yelled at him for telling me I have a fat face. And he said I shouldn't be mad, because I'm "supposed" to look that way when I'm pregnant. I told him he was mean and there's no baby in my face! *pout*
