Holy Change of Plans, Batman! (new doctors?)

Hi, everybody,

  So, DH and I had been going to a dr (I think just an OB/GYN who specialized in infertility).  We picked him because he was associated with a reputable practice which took our insurance and we could get appointments with him quickly (instead of having to wait 2 months for an initial appt. with the other doctor).  We called today to get my prescription for Clomid filled and to check on doing a trigger injection.  During this phone call, we were told that our doctor "is no longer with the practice" as of last Friday, and they were shutting down our local office.  Yikes!  The IUI nurse (who is our case nurse, even though we're not IUI yet) is moving to another practice with an RE, or we could stay in the practice we're in and just travel farther for appointments.  Does anybody have any suggestions?  As of now, we're going to plan on doing the injection class and ultrasound at the farther office, then switching to a new doc. 

  Would the treatment plan or tests be any different with an RE as opposed to an OB/GYN?  We were at a specifically infertility practice before, but I'm not sure what the difference would mean as far as our experience there.  I appreciate any advice or comments.  Thanks!

I would definitely recommend seeing an RE. For the most part ob/gyn's won't do the same level of testing and tend to waste your time with clomid cycles. GL!

I would recommend going to see an RE.

Definitely go see an RE.  An RE has much more training in this area and probably has a more encompassing spread of experience.  They will be thinking of things that your ob/gyn may not have even seen before.  Good Luck!!!

I would definitely see an RE. OBs just don't run the same diagnostics, monitor, or know the field as well as an expert.

I started fertility tx with my gyno (who I love), but once I started to see an RE, I wish I would have went sooner.  They are much more experienced in this field.  My RE has given me so much information and has done so much more testing than my gyno.  Good luck!

Ditto this...I love my gyno too, but my RE has sooo much for knowledge.

Make sure you get copies of whatever medical records they have on already (if any). That sucks but on a bright side, maybe seeing an RE will get you the BFP we all want so dearly!
