DS hates being laid on the changing table, he screems like someone is murdering him. He also hates going into the stroller and the high chair. He arches his back and stiffens his legs. It is really terrible and if you are holding him upright and go to lay him down, he will grab your clothing and hold on for dear life. It is really hard on both of us, I think.
Is this normal behavior? What can we do to counteract it? TIA!
Re: Hates changing table, etc
it's been 'normal behavior' with all 3 of mine! we've mostly moved to stand up changes, much less of a battle. still try to get something super interesting for him to play with. it was harder to do stand up changes w/my DS#1 bc his poop was so messy, but much easier w/DS#2 and DS#3. i think they don't want to stop what they are doing.. that, and a control/power thing too...he just doesn't want his body controlled like that now that he can walk and do all that fun stuff. it does get easier when they get older and understand more. i try to pawn off the diaper changes to DH on the weekends
eta re: carseats/highchair/stroller. if I am not in a huge hurry, I give him a few minutes to wail/let it out/acknowledge his frustration about getting buckled in. but then, yes, i pretty much have to force it because we just have to go. it's not ideal, but he usually gets over it once we start moving. if he's wailing in the highchair, i usually take him out bc he's too upset to eat anyway, i try again later.
