In the winter when my skin is more dry, I use a paste made from sugar and olive oil, you just have to wash your face after to get the oil off. Oh, and if you use it in the shower, you'll probably have to clean the shower after so no one slips and kills themselves.

there is a product from Dermalogica called Daily Microfoliant, it is a rice based powder that you mix with water. it can be used everyday or ?a few times a week. I also like 7 Day Scrub from Clinique.
Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion in a Jar (or something like that). I get it at Sephora. It's a little bit of a splurge, but it lasts a long time b/c you only use a little at a time and I love it!
I use Johnson & Johnson Clean & Clear Face scrub (at Target, Walgreens, etc) It is about $4.00 and is incredible! I use it every other day, but the bottle says it is safe to use daily.
Aveeno makes a "skin brightening" scrub which has a mild exfoliation to it. I use ROC pads or there are other brands of scrubbing cloths (like Clean & Clear).
I just found something I like a lot - Neutrogena makes these little scrubby pads. (they come in a box of.. 24?) Not harsh at all, but one side has exfoliating "bumps" on it (I'm sure that they have a better name for them) and the other is a smooth cleanser pad - preloaded with their gentle cleanser.
I've been having big issues with odd eczema with this pregnancy, so I needed to find something to slough off the dry skin.. this is working really well, and seems gentle enough for my skin as well.
Re: What do you use to exfoliate your face?
I use baking soda in the summer.

I use Pangea Organics Egyptian Geranium with Adzuki Bean & Cranberry.
It's the most I've ever spent on a facial scrub, but I looove it!
