anyone banking?
we are not but we are donating to MD Anderson and I'm really happy my OB gave us the option.
I did ask her about letting it "pulse" for the baby as I have read up a little on it. She pretty much said it's not needed and LO has all she needs. Anyone else get the same reaction after asking?
Re: Cord Blood
I was thinking this exact same thing. Now how to convince her. Ugggh.

This being our first and all the expenses that go along with it, we're not banking this time. We are donating, though. We decided that we would save up and bank next time. From what I know, if you bank from one child, it helps them all (correct me if I'm wrong).
I now need to go read up on pulsing.
I would just tell her that while you appreciate her input, you prefer to let your LOs cord pulse.
Your body, your baby...no need to convince her. Just tell her that's what you want.
I would imagine if you let the cord pulse, there isn't enough blood left to donate, since your baby is getting it all.
That's what I have read. My peri seemed skeptical of the benefits of pulsing and told me that if there are any problems they won't let me have that, especially for the first baby if the second baby is in distress. I'm not happy about it and hope that the doctors doing my delivery will listen to me (although I do understand there are circumstances that would make getting Baby B out the priority over letting A's cord pulse).
I am banking. Check out the article from the world health organization. It talks about risks and benefits of delayed clamping. Personally, if I was not banking, I would clamp before it stopped pulsating.
