Cloth Diapering

Sew inserts into pocket diapers?

I just aquired the first diapers for my stash (yay! so excited!) and they are pocket diapers.  The person I bought them from suggested that I sew the inserts into them, making them AIO.  This seems like a great idea.

Is there a reason not to do this? Longer drying time?

I don't know much about AIO so I must be missing something here...

  • I'd think longer drying time and the inability to stuff more inserts in for overnight/when you need more absorbency.

This.  I really like being able to customize absorbency.  Also, if you leave them separate then it would be easier down the line if you had to strip inserts or anything like that.

  • I wouldn't. Drying time aside (which is horrendous imo), not having the option of stuffing extra for a heavy wetter, less for a newborn, a trimmer bamboo insert, a hemp insert for night time...that wouldn't be useful for us.

  • Alright so it's about customization, future use and drying time.  Thanks so much!

IF you did it (not saying you should :), youd you just 'peg' one end in?

So it would just be attached but still have to be stuffed--like totbot's?https://dirtydiaperlaundry.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/totsbots_inner.jpg

(that long thingy above folds into the pocket that is 'behind' it--I can't find a better picture)

(of course, if you do that, I"Lm not sure there's any advantage compared to doing nothing, you still have to stuff every time)
