Do you think I need a MFM? Should I consider both an MFM and an OB?
I appreciate any and all advice.
Thank you TTCAL and IF board.

Re: Di/Di twins.
IMO, yes see an MFM, too.
I had di/di twins and only saw an MFM. I was living in the UK at the time and so I felt I was getting great care by going to the MFM. When I returned to the US, I opted to still stay in the care of an MFM.
I had an uncomplicated pg but was thankful to have had an MFM when at 34 weeks they thought my one DD was IUGR (at birth, we found out she wasn't) but I felt reassured and in the best hands possible with the MFM. Got to see LOs a lot on u/s!!
Best of luck to you!

I'm comfortable being with my OB only. They give me growth checks, bi weekly cervix checks, and are very comfortable dealing with twins. They also have a "hi tech" u/s machine in their office.
It all depends on how comfortable you are with your OB I think.
After 2 years, Injects, PCOS diagnosis and 2 IUI's, we were blessed with our beautiful twin girls!
Baby Girl #3!
Make sure to check around, I know the MFM's in our area dont usually deliver, the Ob's do.
My OB practice specializes in high risk so I just see them.
Thanks.

Congrats & welcome to the board. I think all women with multiples should see a MFM. I loved my OB's office and their staff, but MFM had a much better grasp of things specific to twins and other high risk issues. Their facilities for NSTs were also MUCH better. Having them done in my OB's office literally made me ill.
Also, read Dr. Barbara Luke's book. It's incredibly helpful and discusses this topic.

We get this comment all the time - you don't need to stuff yourself! It's a good guideline and some of the foods she suggests per trimester are really helpful, but don't make yourself sick. I just upped my protein and did the best I could.
Not saying anything bad about your doctors personally. However, the only OBs who truly practice high risk are MFMs. I don't care if any regular OB says they practice high risk; it's false advertising unless they are board certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
ETA: I love my OB. When we saw twins at 5w6d, I walked right over to my MFM colleague and dropped my regular OB. It was nothing personal. I had many complications develop during my pregnancy, and I credit my MFM care for helping me make it to 36 weeks.
Sorry, I shouldnt have said "specializes" my dr lists "High-Risk Obstetrics" under his "clinical interests" The practice lists "Prenatal, general and high-risk obstetrical care" under their services. The MFM's in our area dont actually deliver babies, and I completely trust his care. Lol, our local ob office however-- SCARY! We definately dont dr there!
I'm still new to this whole "high risk/multiple" pregnancy thing, my other two were completely uncomplicated. I am still learning all the terms.
Thanks!
I appreciate the responses. I saw the MFM today and have an appt. with an OB in two weeks, but have decided to stick with my MFM. T
Thanks for responding and for sharing your experiences.
