Does anyone have any reccomendations for what to use for noise and nightlights? Currently, we registered for a sea turtle that shows starts on the ceiling, and a Fisher Price ocean wonders crib soother that plays music. People have been telling me to get a white noise machine instead of something with music but I still want something with lights or a nightlight. Any recommendations?
Re: Noise Machines and Nightlights
I would just get a regualr night light.
I SWEAR by the SLeep Sheep but Cloud B....
We have used this for the past 2.5 years with DD and just got a second one for DS when he arrives. It has worked great.

Our Twin Baby + a Big Girl Blog
And with the delivery trifecra of one twin vaginal, one c-section with general anesthesia for twin B, Spencer and Sidney joined us at 35 weeks exactly on June 18.
The Homedics Spa sound machine is what we have too. It has 3 nature sounds (heartbeat, ocean and rain) 3 songs (I forget what they are), and a projector with 3 different discs (under water, jungle and sheep/stars)
Have you looked at the Mommy Bear? When I had my daughter eons ago, I was given one and my daughter LOVED it. We gave it to the nursery the first night and the entire group of babies went to sleep. they loved it so much they went and bought them to have on hand. Once she got older, we took the box out and clipped the velcro strap off and she carried her "bear bear" around for quite a while.
Now that we are pregnant again, she insists that we get the new baby a "bear bear" so that he can have good dreams like she did.
Another wonderful item I used was was a tape set called Heartbeat Lullabies. It was wonderful soothing. I would play it on low when I put her down. The tape would cut off and the bear would be on a little while longer. It is on CD or MP3 download now.
I provided the links below if you want to look at them. Amazon is the shopping of choice for those of us stationed overseas! When I was stateside, I got the bear from Wal-Mart and the tapes were given to me at the hospital on post.

....or you could just get a cheapie clock radio and tune it to static. Much cheaper than a sound machine. Or download free white noise MP3s.
I have the Marpac Sleep Mate on our Amazon registry
