We (my DH and I) need to get away. I want to plan something for this summer, but have no clue how much money it may cost. The last trip we went on was our honeymoon and it was like 3,000 including airfare...way to much money now that we have DD. Has anyone had a great vacation that wasn't that expensive? We want the beach. Thanks!!!
Re: How can I afford a vacation?
You can definitely get away for under $3,000. First I would find out what's on sale for airfare and plan your trip around those destinations. Then go to vrbo.com and find a vacation rental by owner. We got a beachfront condo in Maui for $800 for the entire week on vrbo. It really pays to get a condo with a kitchen rather than a hotel room. That way you can make your own breakfasts, lunches and snacks and eat out only for dinner and bring back your leftovers. You can also make your own drinks and bring them to the beach instead of paying for happy hour drinks or after dinner drinks. There are tons of ways to save and still have fun. I usually spend about $1,500-$2,000 for a week long beach vacation if I'm on a budget. You can always go for 5 days and make it cheaper. GL!
set the time aside for when you want to go, be sure that it is flexible by a day or 2 and then get last minute travel deals. You can get them through TONS of different sites. That way you will spend about 1200-1500 for an all inclusive 4-5 star resort. at the most.
You can also sign up to be a member of something like spririt air, they have 9$ flight deals
