I was thrilled to develop this fun side effect of bcps last summer after going back on the pill I was on for 13 yrs prior to TTC, having spotting & switching pills to 'the one' that did this to my face...
anywayyyyy..... last summer when it first started I knew how it quickly darkened with sun exposure so I also tried a moisturizer with tint to try to get a little bit of 'sun' on my face, but that seemed to also make the darkened areas darker than the surrounding skin. All winter I have been using a powder product I've been happy with in terms of evening my skin tone without being heavy but now as warm weather approaches, I'm curious about what others do- self tanner, tinted makeup, bronzer???
Thanks!
Re: anyone have chloasma?
I've been using tinted moisturizer/foundation with SPF. As soon as the sun hits my face the big blotches get browner and browner
I'm hoping this stops when we wean!
If it developed while you were on BCP, it probably won't go away on it's own and will definitely get worse if you spend any time outside w/o suncreen on. I developed it while on Yasmin bcp unfortunately.
I've been using Aveeno moisturizer with spf 30 on my face and I also use a foundation with SPF. I've found that Illuminare foundation works best for me. I need pretty heavy coverage in the areas that I have melasma.
Thanks. Yes, I know it won't go away & the sun makes it worse, that is why I was asking about makeup options for the summer months when I'd like to appear to have some sort of tan... I guess maybe I'll just go with a slightly darker powder or foundation maybe or just go over my regular one with some bronzing powder...
so annoying
