how many dirty diapers a day is too much?

Let's talk poop ;-) DD1 has always been a pooping machine...TMI!   She normally goes 2-3 times a day but  had 5 good sized poopy diapers today (no diarrhea) .  She is acting totally normal and hasn't had anything new to eat. She has always been slow to gain weight...I wonder if this is why.?.?  I told pedi about the average # at past visits but she wasn't concerned. I'm going to see what tomorrow brings.  Should I call pedi and ask what is "normal" ...5 times seems a bit much?

I nave absolutely no idea what normal is, my DS only poops once (twice on rare occasions) but he has never gone 5 times, unless it was diarrhea. I would call just to make sure.

Trust your instincts -- if it feels wrong, call. Sounds normal to me, but DD has always pooped a minimum of three times a day :-)

It might have just been a fluke. I wouldn't worry about it unless she's consistently pooping 5x every day in a row.

DS poops anywhere from 3-5x a day.  He's still on BM/Formula.

Sounds fine to me. I asked at DD's one year appointment about DD going 4-6x/day and he said it wasn't typical but also nothing to worry about.

My DD has 1, sometimes 2 dirty diapers. If it was 5 a day, especially a few days in a row, I would call the pedi.
