So I was thinking of nn's for Calliope, and we thout of Calli or Callie, but we're not sOld on it.The question is do you think any variation ofLilli/Lillie/Lilly/Lily would be a suitable nn for Calliope?
callie or leigh are the only nicknames that make any sense.
of course, once you get to know your daughter, you may come up with a nickname that has nothing to do with her name - i have a friend named autumn, but her mom always calls her chickadee
Nn, short name, whatever you want to call it. When it's a longer name, at least around here, no one sticks to the long name. A short name develops at some point (most know why the short name will be) I would rather figure out a short name we like that goes with the long name. I don't know why it's so baffling to understand. Like Joshua/Josh, Michael/Mike, Rebecca/Becky etc.I just know that we won't want to stick to just the long name all the time, I know some people do, and that's okay, but for Calliope we would like to choose a short name.On the other hand, Parker, our boy choice, doesn't need a short version.
My name is Cheri and my mom always called me Gert (short for Matilda Gertrude...which is what my grandfather would sometimes call me), so yeah, you can call her whatever you want
I like Callie and Poppy the best. Calliope is on my list, though not sure if DH approves.
Re: Nn for Calliope
I think Calliope is really pretty, but I wouldn't think you'd need to use a nn.
Lily is not at all natural from Calliope.
What about Calla? Pia?
Calliope is a great name. Lily is not a natural nn for Calliope and it sounds strange as a nn for Calliope, so no to your question.
Possible nns... (just throwing these out as they come to mind)...
Lee, Lee-lee, Lia, Calla, Lopa, Lopie, Cal, Pia, Lo...

Sorry, this is one of my pet peeves, so I will continue to respond as I have for other similar posts....
Nicknames either develop organically or they don't. Calliope is a perfectly fine name on it's own, why does she need a nickname?
I think Calla is an adorable nn for Calliope.
Lily doesn't seem natural.
