RnP at night

Is anyone else still using the RnP for night time sleeping?  Our LO is growing so fast and still hasn't slept through the night.  I am wondering if it is about time to transition!?  Every time we try, he just doesn't sleep well in the crib.  Not sure what do to!?!?

Re: RnP at night

  • We still use it.  He's getting really big though so I'm not sure how long we'll be able to continue. He's not a fan of laying flat on his back (no reflux or anything, just doesn't like it) so PnP and crib aren't great right now.

  • Yup.  Nate is still in his RnP in our bedroom.  This last week I've tried putting him in his crib for naps in hopes to transition him into his crib at night, but he only naps 30 mins.  He sleeps 12 hours at night in his RnP and I'm not ready to mess with that yet!!  But if your son isn't STTN anyway, I'd maybe start transitioning him to his crib now.

We do still swaddle him with his legs free because we do strap him into it.  He squirms a ton and if we don't strap him in he'd fall out!

We're going to the pedi next week for his 4 month appt and I'm going to see what she suggests we do.

Same here!!  I tried elevating the head of the mattress with a crib wedge and a folded blanket.  Not quite as steep as the RnP...but close.  I tired to put LO down to sleep in the crib and he woke after 10 minutes.  I was able to calm him and put him back to sleep.  After 3 hours, we was screaming and his head was smashed against the side of the crib (from the elevations).  I am hoping we can use the RNP until he can flip himself.  Also, the RNP feels so secure.  With the crib....I had all kinds of worries!?!?!

  • We still use it at night.  We've been getting stretches of 10-12 hours each night (except for last night).  She does nap in her crib on her stomach but I'm not ready to put her on her tummy at night.  She doesn't last long at all on her back in her crib.  We also discovered she can turn herself fully on her side swaddled in the crib so now we need to unswaddle her before moving to the crib.

True!  He gets decent sleep in the RnP.  I teach jr high and am terrified of consecutive sleepless nights!!!  I might have to wait until summer....but that's so far away!?!?!?  Keep me posted on what your pedi says...if you don't mind!

Nice!  Did you do anything to help LO sleep?  Two nights of bad sleep isn't bad at all!

  • I could handle two nights of bad sleep.  I wish it came with a guarantee!  We are in the process of transitioning out of the swaddle now - first unswaddled arms.  Tonight is the first night in his sleep sack.  If he conquers this, I guess we can try the crib, but I'm a closet RnP junkie.  Totally addicted.

Yeah, the swaddling is an entirely different ballgame!  One thing at a time! :)
