Cost of BF special additions

Thinking I need to hire a LC to help weaning my son off of nipple shields and now seems to have a shallow latch...lots of clicking and really painful nips. I tried positioning tricks and pushing his chin down but does not seem to help.

If you hired a LC, how much did you pay?

I also am interested in renting a hospital grade pump.

If you rented a pump, how much did you pay?

Just wanting to compare prices I have been quoted

I've heard LC's range from $100-300 a visit. Call your hospital and see if they will meet with you for free. Also, check LLL- you could go to a meeting and get advice for free.

Pump rental $60/month

I had similar issues with the clicking and shield. When she was 3 weeks old I couldn't find the shield and got her to latch miraculously and we were set. I still have pain off and on one nipple because it is shaped differently than the other but I deal. The clicking stopped suddenly around a month, it was like one day she woke up and "got it". I've heard that from other mom's too. It just takes time for them to learn and for their mouths to get bigger. In the meantime, get the NUK refrigerated pads and use Lanolin every time LO eats.

LC was $150 to come to my home. She was here for an hour and a half. HCOL right outside of Boston. She gave me a receipt for my FSA. I didn't rent a pump.

I met with the LC from my Pedi's office- cost $150 for an hour and a half- at her office.  Some insurance will cover this- mine did not
