Job Searchers Check In

It looks like there are a few of us on here looking for work.  Let's support each other.

Here is a little poll to get things started:

1. What is your main reason for your job search (need to go back to work, need a different job, etc.)?

2. What field, industry, type of job are you looking for?

3. Have you had any recent interest (calls, interviews, offers, etc.)?

4. How are you conducting your job search?

5. How do you feel overall about your job search?

6. Anything else you want to share about your search?  Vents?  Confessions?

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.

    1. What is your main reason for your job search (need to go back to work, need a different job, etc.)? I need to go back to work, and I want to back to work!

    2. What field, industry, type of job are you looking for? Education. I am a teacher.

    3. Have you had any recent interest (calls, interviews, offers, etc.)? I have a preliminary interview tomorrow.

    4. How are you conducting your job search? I am applying to job pools and going off of friend recommendations.

    5. How do you feel overall about your job search? I have just started it, so I am a little overwhelmed at the moment!

    6. Anything else you want to share about your search?  Vents?  Confessions? Confession: I am so excited about this job and interview tomorrow that I hope I nail it and get the job. I know it is my first time out, and that I can't put all my eggs in one basket, but it would be the best thing ever to nail it the first time out!

  • Thanks for answering KNEMO, I didn't want to be the only one to answer my own poll. Smile  Maybe there aren't as many people looking for a job on here as I thought, but I thought there were at least 4 or 5.

    1. What is your main reason for your job search (need to go back to work, need a different job, etc.)?  Probably should go back to work.  I don't exactly NEED to, but now that Tman's in Kindergarten, I'm looking for the perfect position.

    2. What field, industry, type of job are you looking for?  QA for Life Sciences

    3. Have you had any recent interest (calls, interviews, offers, etc.)?  I had a phone interview (a few weeks ago) and an on-site interview (last week) for one place.  Fingers crossed.

    4. How are you conducting your job search?  Honestly, I'm just waiting to be contacted.  A lot of my industry is word of mouth, referrals, etc.

    5. How do you feel overall about your job search?  Eh.  I don't really care to be honest.  I mean, I'd love to get the job I interviewed for, but it will only be an ego blow if I don't.

    6. Anything else you want to share about your search?  Vents?  Confessions? I hate waiting after an interview.  Give me an offer or don't.  I'd even take a "we're drafting an offer" or "we went with someone else" so I could know where I stand.

I don't think that we are the only ones. But even if we are the only ones, it's nice to have someone to check in with! Big Smile

  • I apprieciate this checkin. Nothing can make a person feel more down than no after no after no. Or worse sending out tons of resumes and not hearing anything. I at times have second guessed my own self and qualificatiions. I know the reality is there are hundreds of applicants for every job but it still is a blow.

Here is a little poll to get things started:

    1. What is your main reason for your job search (need to go back to work, need a different job, etc.)? DH was laid off for over a year and half. he eventually found a job but it pays only half of what he made before. Therefor my stay at home mom lifestyle is not able to be supported. this is after we have eliminated all unnecessary bills. All thats left to get rid of is our car. So money is my first motivator. second would be that after being home with my children, and I am thankful for that time, I realize that I am meant to be a working mom.

    2. What field, industry, type of job are you looking for? I have over 15 years expierence as an administrative assistant so I am looking mainly for a office job. I am thinking about submitting to boeing for a line worker though since they will be hiring.

    3. Have you had any recent interest (calls, interviews, offers, etc.)?  Only the one bite and we know that didnt end in my favor. that was my only interview since Christmas. this is not good.

    4. How are you conducting your job search?  networking, CL, worksource, indeed, monster you name it

    5. How do you feel overall about your job search? Not well, I would have hoped to have more interest in my resume.

    6. Anything else you want to share about your search?  Vents?  Confessions?

  • 1. What is your main reason for your job search (need to go back to work, need a different job, etc.)? I want to see what's out there but not in any hurry

    2. What field, industry, type of job are you looking for? Looking into office manager or technical writer (but I don't have formal training in this field, just work experience.)

    3. Have you had any recent interest (calls, interviews, offers, etc.)? I've sent out a few resumes

    4. How are you conducting your job search? I am looking on Craigslist and going to a job placement program next week that my last employer is paying for as part of my layoff package.

    5. How do you feel overall about your job search? I just started but am excited to see what's out there.  I'm not sure what I'll find and if nothing works out perfectly than I'll probably continue being a SAHM and might try for the NSCC EMT program Summer or Fall quarter.

    6. Anything else you want to share about your search?  Vents?  Confessions? I'm applying for unemployment and have mixed feelings about it since I'm not desperate for a job right now and I know some families are.
