Baby Names

stuck on boy names

So my BF is deadset that we are having a boy. Although, we weren't able to get a good look at my u/s on Wed (13w3d) so we have no clue what the sex of the baby is. So, since he has this set in his mind he is also set on naming the baby Michael Christopher bc he said it will be after him bc he is Christopher Michael. It's not a bad name (either way), but I just don't see our kid as being named that.

I proposed the name Connor James or even Connor Michael, but the more I hear the name Michael the first person that pops in my head is Michael Jackson *ugh* I wasn't a big fan (and neither was Chris) so I'm leaning towards James as the middle name. But my BF is still stuck on Michael Christopher  *ugh*

Anyone else going thru a similar thing?

Re: stuck on boy names

  • I'm assuming the baby is getting his last name, right? That's enough, I'd say.

Jrs. (or reversing his first and middle name) are fine if you likes the idea too, but if you don't he needs to move on and come up with a different name that you both like.

  • My DH and I had an issue w/ a boy's name. When he found out it was a boy he was dead set on naming the baby Brian Richard (insert last name) J.R. I couldn't stand that idea. So after having a long discussion we each came up with three names that we liked, narrowed the six names down to two we could agree on. After looking up the names meaning we picked one we both could deal with, and decided the middle name will be Brian after him.

I would suggest you just tell him how you feel. It is your baby also, and you should be happy with the name. Maybe you could suggest to your BF to look up some other boy names, or ask if there is any other names he likes. It is all about compromise.

    Agree!

  • It has to be 50/50. If you don't like Michael Christopher, it's off the table. Connor James is fine. You guys have plenty of time, too.
