We bought the "Devon" crib at costco and it is manufactured by "Cafe Kids." I'd never heard of the brand before and couldn't find anything on it (consumer reports etc), but we purchased it any way because it was the only crib we could agree on.
DH took it out of the box and it is completely made of solid wood, not the pressed board crap like many cribs from BRU. My friend and who is a costco employee and mother of 2 has a crib from costco and she's never had a problem with it and says cribs are rarely returned to her store.
I would try searching for the crib name or getting the serial number and brand name from the box next time you go to costco and searching for that. It seems like nearly all of the furniture from costco is an off-brand, so good luck!
No advice on the McKenzie crib but also wanted to add that we, too, purchased the Devon crib and matching dresser by Cafe Kid. We were very pleased with the quality of both pieces (solid hardwood) and think they will hold up very well. Costco does extremely thorough research and testing of all of the items sold in their stores so I agree with PP... try to search for more info online, with the serial number and brand name. You may be able to ask someone at customer service for help finding more information. Good luck!

Can I just say that I love our July 2011 board? I posted this in two other places and you two are the only ones who have responded--- thank you so much! I really appreciate your thoughts, suggestions etc. I was able to find out that the Devon crib is a higher quality set than the McKenzie crib, which is made by Child Craft. ( they get a C+ rating in Baby Bargains... I think Im going to keep looking!
Thanks again ladies and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
