I had one grape popsicle in 33 hours. When I was finally allowed to sit up after being stitched up, I grabbed a handful of crackers and shoved them into my mouth. Then, while we were being transferred to the Mother/Baby unit, I sent out DH for some Wendy's. I had a double baconator combo. I work at the hospital I delivered at. There was no way I was eating the food there!

Half the menu, I got the go-ahead from my doc to eat whatever the heck I wanted after being on a diabetic low carb diet for months, so I basically picked all my favorite carb filled foods and had them bring them up to me. The hospital actually had really good food for the most part (their pita bread had kind of a spongy texture, that's about it) I think I had macaroni and cheese, hummus and pita, lemon cake, either pork loin or chicken fried steak, can't remember, all I remember is it had gravy on it, and I washed it all down with a nice glass of Mr. Pibb. Thankfully the diabetes went poof, otherwise I would have been feeling kind of odd after that meal.
ETA: Is it common to be put on a liquid diet after a c-section? My hospital must have been really lenient then, I took my first shower in the hospital too, it felt effing FANTASTIC after spending my whole first day as a mom getting peed on and spat up on.
She was born at 9:11pm and by the time we were in my room and I was allowed food it was nearing 11pm so I sent my sister and her hubby to go get me Jack in the Box and I gorged myself on a greasy burger and fries... and a oreo shake. It was awesome.
I didn't want anything to eat but I would have killed someone for water by the time I was done. They wouldn't let me drink anything after getting my epi, and I think just the thought of them telling me I couldn't have it made me want it even more. As soon as they pulled him out, and while his cord was being cut. I looked at my mom and asked her to get me water. (She is a nurse at the hospital I delivered at.) I drank about five classes while I was getting stiched up!
That night tho, my mom brought up special K bars. It was my birthday and that is what she makes for me every year in place of a cake. I think I ate the entire pan by myself! I also had a few breadsticks someone had brought up! LOL It all seems so long ago!
I ordered a chicken quesadilla from the cafeteria. I was sooooo hungry but then when the food came I wanted to puke from it. I did scarf down the cookie and nilla icecream I ordered too! Oh and blueberry muffin!
i had mac and cheese. homeade style not kd, from the hospital with ginger ail and an orange. i was so happy to finally be able to eat without heartburn!!! i scarfed the food down because i went to the hospital at 8am not thinking i was actually in labour so i hadn't eaten since the night before. the hospital food was suprisingly very yummy and i ordered the mac and cheese again during my stay!

I got to the hospital around 5 in the evening. My water had broken but I wasn't in active labour. After triage, there wasn't a room available right away (busy night) so the nurses told me to go have supper and come back in about an hour. So I had a burger and fries I think. J was born at 3:55am, and I slept until breakfast was delivered. I may have had some snacks from my bag first. I can't really remember.
Our friends happened to be nearby when DH called and said Hart was born. They were so sweet and went out to get me sushi! Thank god, b/c the late night menu at the hospital was sad!

Tonight, however, I'm being healthy. I had turkey bacon in my BLT.
