Extra Wide Sneakers

I am having the hardest time finding XW sneakers/shoes for my son.  I've tried Stride Rite, Zappos and ShoeBuy.  They are either ridiculously expensive (like $60+) or really, really ugly.  I wish I could get him a cute pair of Nike's or something.  It's so frustrating.  Any ideas as to where else I could look?  He wears an 8.5XW.  Thanks!

Re: Extra Wide Sneakers

  • I have a friend who is in the same boat.  She found a StrideRite outlet and said they had the extra wide shoes but they were about 1/2 the price.  Someone also told me that Payless carries wide shoes for kids.  Good luck

I just left the Stride Rite outlet....they had nothing in his size!  I've found XW shoes there in the past, but it is slim pickings and they dont always have 8.5.  So frustrating :(

  • how about ebay? or amazon?  its really frustrating looking for wide infant/toddler shoes.

  • payless carries some extra wide
  • I just went to 2 of my payless stores and I couldn't find XW. I ended up walking out with a Cars shoe that was like a wide skate shoe.

  • My son has wide feet as well.  New Balance has a great selection!

We don't have any, but I've this from several people about New Balance. I just bought DD some gym shoe style Mary Janes for spring (she is extra wide too) from Stride Rite and for what I paid, I am p!ssed at how bad they are wearing. All the fuzzy leather (you know what I mean) is wearing off on the toes. She has only worn them indoors and they look like crap. I've bought her sandals there before and never had a problem. I plan on trying some New Balances for gym shoes.
