I told my boss about starting up IVF back in October/November and explained the process, not in detail to get her confused, but enough to make her understand that it's a long process and the meds might/will change my attitude, etc... Once things get going then it's going to be multiple appts for a few weeks, with only a day/two notice, then a few days off for ER and few days off for ET...although I didn't say ER/ET, told her out-patient surgery w/bed rest & part 2 of the procedure with bed rest.
She called me into her office on Tuesday and kind of gave me a hard time about taking time off and that my work is suffering b/c of my time off. I only work PT, 25 hours per week and she has been against me making up anytime due to the budget they have for me.
I am just so annoyed that she brought this up to me. Like I don't have enough to worry about? FFS I am spending THOUSANDS of $$$$$ to have a baby, in which it was so simple for her 19-20 years ago.
So, do you ladies think there is anything I can say or do to help this situation? I just don't know what to do. Plus I found out today that she has been going through my email/computer for the past 2 days, so I am sure she will find something to b*tch at me about. I HATE that she goes through my stuff!!!!!
Re: How should I deal w/my boss?
I don't understand why you can't make up your lost time and not have it effect the budget if your total hours are the same?
I'm sorry.
I was about to write the same thing. They would not be paying you anymore if you make up your work and still only work 25 hours. I am sorry your boss is going through your computer and your email. That sucks.
I am not sure if it would help to go into more detail about IVF. It sounds like she does not want to understand. I hope things get better for you very soon.

Guess she's just worried about not having enough $ in the budget for me to last until June 30th...oh and she also mentioned that my hours or job might get cut b/c of funding for our next program year, which starts July 1st. Which is really kind of unfair to me b/c I was the only one who received cuts this program year. Ugh! I should just really quit and be done with this BS!

Maybe she would be open to you, off the record, working your allotted hours. It may also be helpful for her to know that this is for a three week period only.
It doesn't sound like your boss is sticking up for you, and digging through your email sounds a bit fishy.
I'm sorry, you don't need this.

Holy cow! I can't believe she went through your email! I would be livid!
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
I'm sorry! Hopefully your boss would be OK with you making up the hours, which shouldn't cause a budget issue.
I know my RE gave me "medical notes" to document expectations during ER/ET that I could submit to HR in case anyone questioned my time out of the office. Maybe you can ask yours to have in your back pocket?
I think my RE would do this for me, but my boss is the HR dept. We work in a VERY small office, a total of 6, including myself. So I have no one to talk to about issues with my boss and what I should do. Ugh!
