I'm so glad someone understands how frustrating the actual vs adjusted age thing is. I get 2 or 3 emails about weekly development and 1 of them is set from his due date and it's usually the most accurate. So it feels like he's behind even though he's doing fine for his adjusted age. Add colic to the mix and it's been a rough 9 weeks. Poor kid, but poor mom and dad, too.
Re: Tomandcourt
butting in. My guys came early - 31 weeks. I totally understand the frustration of actual vs adjusted age. Early on I had to stop reading pretty much everything because I would start to get worried that my guys were not smiling, rolling over, sitting up, etc. at the "right" age. I took them in for their one year appt this AM and they are both doing SO well - in fact Evan took his first steps last night!
Hang in there, it does get better and you do somewhat get used to actual vs adjusted age thing.
Poor mom and dad, indeed! You have my sympathies - especially with the colic! Ugh. He's not behind, he's just catching up, and it sounds like he's doing great and right on track.
It really does get better though - I think the first 2-3 months were the worst for me, and after that it got incrementally better and better until it was just, you know, awesome.
